General Indoor Air Quality Testing
The general indoor air quality parameters measured in commercial buildings are Carbon Dioxide ( CO2 ), Carbon Monoxide ( CO ), Temperature and Relative Humidity.
Air testing or air monitoring is often used to determine the indoor air quality in business workplaces and homes.
Building Biologists study what aspects of a building may have the potential to make the occupants sick (Sick Building Syndrome). We work very closely with health practitioners to help determine what environmental factors may be affecting the health of the occupants and try to assist in providing critical information that may help the health practitioner better diagnose and treat the person suffering from the adverse health effects. This can occur at work or at home.
Specific air monitoring or air sampling equipment needs to be selected in order to test for specific potential contaminants. However, a thorough visual assessment and asking a lot of questions can often determine potential causes of bad indoor air quality and is a critical part of an overall indoor air quality assessment.
The air conditioning systems, methods of cleaning the building and the buildings locations are often key factors.
The general indoor air quality parameters measured in commercial buildings are Carbon Dioxide ( CO2 ), Carbon Monoxide ( CO ), Temperature and Relative Humidity.
Testing these four parameters can easily be done using a single meter and instant results can be obtained. If one of these factors are an issue there is the potential for discomfort and / or adverse health effects like headaches, chronic fatigue, lack of concentration, colds and flu and eye irritation amongst many other symptoms.
Air-conditioning units can often be the cause of the problem if there is not enough fresh air introduced from the outdoor environment, contaminated with mould and / or bacteria or the unit is old and in a state of dis-repair.
